In the latest quarterly report, Remedy Entertainment not only discussed its finances but also announced a new milestone for Control.

Control

The game surpassed 6 million copies sold in just under seven years since its release in August 2019 on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. The developers did not specify how the sales were distributed across platforms.

Remedy traditionally discloses Control's sales figures as part of its financial reports. Here is the current timeline of the announcements:

  • 2 million copies — February 2021;
  • 3 million copies — March 2023;
  • 4 million copies — February 2024;
  • 5 million copies — August 2025;
  • 6 million copies — May 2026.

According to Remedy, Control has been seeing a spike in sales lately due to the upcoming sequel release, Control Resonant. Many gamers are choosing to experience the first part of the series while they await the second. Additionally, Control is regularly sold at significant discounts, making it even more appealing.

It's worth noting that the total audience for Control is much larger than 6 million, as the action game can be accessed not just by purchasing, but also through Game Pass and PS Plus subscriptions. Previously, it was also offered for free several times through the Epic Games Store. How many people have experienced Control to date is unknown, but two years ago, that number exceeded 19 million.
