The National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA) of China has released a list of 128 games approved for launch in October. Among them are over 100 domestic projects and 15 titles from foreign developers.
Squad Busters
One of the most notable games is Goddess of Victory: New Hope — an adapted version of the international hit Goddess of Victory: Nikke by Shift Up and Level Infinite, a subsidiary of Tencent.
Squad Busters by Supercell, also set to be released in China, will be published by Tencent once again.
As reported by the South China Morning Post, this year the regulator approves over 100 domestic games on average each month, while foreign projects receive licenses less frequently — about once every two months.
The previous list of foreign titles included Rainbow Six, Mario Golf: Super Rush, Paper Mario: The Origami King, Marvel Rivals, Marvel Snap, Final Fantasy XIV: Crystal World, Dynasty Warriors, and others.
In total, over the 10 months of 2024, the NPPA approved 1,162 games, including 90 titles from foreign companies. This already surpasses the total number of licenses issued in 2023, when 1,075 projects received approval.
