The mobile AR game in the Witcher universe will be removed from the App Store and Google Play on January 31, 2023, and its servers will be turned off on June 30, 2023.
Speaking about the reasons for closing the game, CD PROJEKT referred to its updated strategy. The Polish group of companies explained that it now intends to pay more attention to the main projects, and outsource mobile games to third-party companies.
CD PROJEKT added that next year Spokko — the developer of The Witcher: Monster Slayer — will cease to exist as a separate subsidiary studio and will become part of the group.
The Witcher: Monster Slayer was released last July. According to AppMagic, to date, the game has earned $1.77 million on IAP with 1.8 million downloads. Moreover, the game received almost the entire amount ($ 1.49 million) by December 2021.
