The Polish conglomerate CD PROJEKT is facing new challenges. It announced that a class action lawsuit has been filed against its GOG store in the United States. The plaintiffs claim that it discloses user information.
According to CD PROJEKT, the store is accused of violating the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA). The details of the lawsuit are not provided.
VPPA was enacted in 1988 and originally regulated services for selling and renting video tapes, but over time it has been expanded to cover video, audio, and online gaming platforms. It prohibits companies from sharing data regarding clients' activities and preferences without their consent.
Currently, CD PROJEKT is "assessing the validity of the claims" in the lawsuit.
