The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Michał Nowakowski, the joint CEO of CD PROJEKT RED, shared in an interview with PAP Biznes that the updated edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is selling very well.

"There was a discount on most platforms during the fall sales, but interestingly, even after the promotion ended, the game's sales remain at a higher level than before the release of the remaster," Nowakowski stated during the conversation.

According to the top manager, developers were also delighted with the recent achievement of a record online peak on Steam. They did not expect the remaster's release to attract nearly 138,000 simultaneous Valve platform users, setting a new record for the game's history. Nowakowski admitted that the company expected to see such figures only with the release of the forthcoming expansion "Ballads of the Past," not now.

The success of the remaster has instilled optimism in CD PROJEKT RED ahead of the release of "Ballads of the Past." As Nowakowski emphasized, all this proved that with the right approach, it is indeed possible to boost sales even 11 years after a game's debut.

Previously, analysts from Alinea Analytics calculated that within the first day of the remaster's release, CD PROJEKT RED sold a total of 130,000 copies of The Witcher 3 on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox—with numbers on other platforms expected to be even higher. Meanwhile, analysts from Erste Securities Polska predicted that by the end of 2026, the remaster will sell 3 million copies and earn 100-125 million zlotys ($26-32.5 million).
