Such memories were shared by Jun Takeuchi, the executive producer of the game. According to him, Capcom marketers believed that it was necessary to create projects that gamers were asking for, i.e., multiplayer games-services with downloadable content and microtransactions.

The developers of Resident Evil 7 tried to do all this and were not happy with what turned out. But when Takeuchi joined the project team, they were finally able to reject the ideas and create a “marketer’s worst nightmare” — a single-player horror.
