The studio Bungie has decided to change its course.

Destiny 2

In a recent statement, Bungie’s head, Poria Torkan, and Marathon's general manager, Josh Deane, revealed that over the past few years, the studio has made several serious mistakes which have cost it dearly. Specifically, it disappointed its audience and lost its trust when it abandoned further development of Destiny 2.

Now Bungie hopes to set things right. One of the first steps will be reintroducing the removed campaigns, locations, and raids to Destiny 2—managers noted this will not be a quick process due to technical nuances, but the content will gradually return to the game. After restoring it, the studio will begin creating “new stories and games” within the franchise.

Additionally, Bungie wants to make changes in Marathon. As Torkan and Deane admitted, the extraction shooter sparked less interest among gamers than the studio anticipated. After careful consideration, Bungie decided to overhaul the game to make it more appealing to a broader audience.

Developers also plan to engage more actively with the community and generally increase the transparency of Bungie’s actions.

“This is a crucial period for Bungie. Our future depends on how clearly we prioritize, fulfill our promises, and honestly discuss our successes and failures. Stability does not mean we should curb our ambitions. It just means we need to focus on what you want to see from us and ensure our vision aligns with reality,” Torkan and Deane stated.
