The stealth shooter Blood West was given away for free on the Epic Games Store on December 20, 2025. In a post on the social network X, New Blood Interactive CEO Dave Oshry humorously admitted that he had been skeptical of such promos in the store until this point, but now he sees the results.
“I used to think that the Epic Games Store was a marketing black hole, but it turns out that a free game giveaway there is great advertising to boost sales on Steam,” Oshry wrote.
However, it should be noted that at the end of December, Blood West was available on Steam with a 60% discount, which also contributed to the sales boost on the platform.
Sales dynamics of New Blood on Steam from December 18 to January 5
Oshry announced that New Blood Interactive decided to give all the money it received from Epic Games for the giveaway to the studio that developed Blood West, Hyperstrange. The team will use this sum for further work on the upcoming Endless West expansion.
Blood West was released on December 5, 2023. Initially, the game was available only on PC, but in October 2025, it also became available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles.
