According to Game Developer, Jay Watamaniuk announced his departure from Bioware on July 7. He has been working at the company since 2001. The reasons for the dismissal were not disclosed.
Perhaps they are related to the company’s refusal to continue working on Star Wars: The Old Republic, the transfer of its third-party studio Broadsword. The fact is that Jay has held the position of senior writer on this project in recent years.
At Bioware, Jay started out as a community manager. Then he took part in writing the plots for the DLC for Mass Effect 2 and 3, helped with the pre-production of Mass Effect: Andromeda and was responsible for the plot of Anthem.
This is not the first major loss for the company in a year. In January, it became known that Mac Walters, who also worked at Bioware for about 20 years as a screenwriter (he was responsible for the plots of the sequels to Mass Effect and was the narrative director at Anthem), was leaving the company.
