The card game Balatro has successfully made its mark on smartphones. As noted by Andrey Zubov, the head of content at AppMagic, within two months of release, the mobile version of the project has generated $3 million in net revenue.

This figure does not account for Balatro's revenue from the Apple Arcade subscription service. Including this would have increased the total sum.

It's important to note that Balatro is a paid game. It is sold in stores for $9.99 and is only available for free to Apple Arcade subscribers.

According to data from AppMagic, Balatro's revenue was roughly equally split between Google Play and the App Store. On Google Play, the game earned $1.7 million, while on the Apple Store it made $1.36 million. The key markets were the USA (52.9%), the UK (6.5%), and Canada (6.2%).

The peak daily revenue for the mobile version of Balatro occurred on September 29, when the game earned a net revenue of $139.7 thousand in one day. However, its earnings later declined. For example, by October 6, the revenue had dropped to $79 thousand, and by the beginning of November, its daily income had decreased to $20 thousand. The situation changed dramatically on November 17, when Balatro's earnings surged again, possibly due to its nomination in five categories at The Game Awards 2024, including "Game of the Year."

Revenue Dynamics of Balatro on Google Play and the App Store

It should be reminded that Balatro was released on mobile devices six months after its debut on consoles and PC. As of August 7, 2024, sales of the game on major platforms exceeded 2 million copies.
