The deal's financial details are undisclosed. However, it's known that there will be some minor reshuffling in the leadership at Implicit Conversions. The Head of Games, Robin Lavallée, will now become the head of the studio, while its current CEO, Bill Litshauer, will take on the role of Chief Operating Officer.
According to Litshauer, the acquisition by Atari opens up a plethora of new opportunities for Implicit Conversions. The teams have collaborated in the past, but now they will be able to do so more effectively.
"It's as if we've found long-lost cousins. We are united by our passion for classic games: we honor the original versions of projects, add historical context to the updated ones, and preserve them for future generations," commented Litshauer on the sale.
Implicit Conversions was founded in 2019 and is currently actively developing the Syrup Engine emulator for PlayStation 1 and 2 games. Over the seven years of its operation, it has contributed to more than a hundred game ports, including Rayman, Fear Effect, Micro Mages, Fighting Force, and the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Collection.
It's worth noting that Atari has been making several acquisitions recently. One of its latest deals was the purchase of a controlling stake in the Thunderful Group holding for 50 million Swedish kronor ($5.28 million).
