Atari has agreed to purchase Night Dive Studios, an American company that is currently working on a remake of the original System Shock. The maximum amount of the transaction can be $20 million.

If everything goes well, the deal will be closed in April. Immediately after that, Atari will pay the developers $ 10 million in cash and shares. She will transfer up to $10 million more over the next three years, the exact amount of payments depends on the financial performance of Night Dive Studio.

Atari expects that the deal will allow it to gain a foothold in the retro games market. Thanks to the purchase, the company will add new IP addresses to its portfolio, as well as gain access to the publishing capabilities and technologies of Night Dive Studio, including the KEX engine. Night Dive Studio itself will receive support from Atari.
