The CEO of Nexon Games, Park Yong Hyun, in an interview with the 4Gamer portal, mentioned that his team doesn't heavily rely on market data when it comes to assessing the potential of games.

According to Park, making forecasts based on the sales of various games was a good idea when development costs were relatively low. Even if a game failed, the losses weren't too significant. Now, the stakes are higher.
This doesn't mean that Nexon Games completely ignores others' successes and failures. As Park stated, the studio keeps an eye on the situation, especially when entering new genres and countries. However, they cannot be sure of the accuracy of the gathered figures, so they treat them as reference information.
At Nexon Games, more emphasis is placed on engaging with the community and gathering player feedback. Park believes that currently, this is the most reliable way to assess a project's potential.
"We don't know how many people will register for, download, or purchase the game. But when I see feedback like, 'I definitely want to play it again,' I know it's going to be played," said Park.
