The new leadership of "World of Tanks" continues to step away from the initiatives associated with the undertakings of the company's previous owner.
According to TASS, “Lesta Games” is ceasing its collaboration with the Gaming Industry Association, which was previously considered to be closely affiliated with the developer.
"The association did not meet our expectations, and indeed, we plan to leave it. We believe there are more industry organizations than necessary at the moment. We support the consolidation of the industry's voice," the company’s press service told our colleagues.
In connection with this, an unnamed source informed TASS that “Lesta Games” is considering joining either the Organization for the Development of the Video Game Industry (RVI) or the Association of Professionals in the Industry of Operations and Game Development (APRIORI).
The latter two do not get along with each other. In particular, a few years ago, the conflict between RVI and APRIORI went public. At that time, “Lesta Games” stood united with VK Play head Alexander Mikheev, who also leads APRIORI.
How the new leadership of the developers of "World of Tanks" and "World of Warships" will act is an open question. They may very well choose the side of the RVI, which today includes founders from Hobby World and Buka Entertainment.
The departure from what is essentially its own association continues a series of steps by the current top management of “Lesta Games” to distance itself from the initiatives actively pursued by the company before its transfer to state control in the summer of 2025.
Previously, the developer withdrew from participating in the related RED EXPO exhibition and the RED CONF conference and, apparently, has stopped supporting the news portal DevReality. Currently, their websites, along with the site of the Gaming Industry Association, are no longer operational.
