The British gaming company Argonaut Games has announced its revival 20 years after its closure.

The resurrected studio has already announced its first project, a remaster of the 1997 3D platformer Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, which follows the adventures of a little crocodile. The updated edition will feature the virtual museum Crocipedia, where gamers can explore concept art, design documents, test animations, developer interviews, and much more. The remaster is set to release by the end of 2024 on PC and "all current consoles."

Later, Argonaut Games plans to re-release some of its other classic hits. The company will also work on new games for modern and retro platforms, although they are not ready to announce any new titles yet.

The original Argonaut Games was founded in 1982 by developer Jez San. Besides Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, the studio contributed to over 30 games. For instance, it created Alien Resurrection, SWAT: Global Strike Team, and the Starglider series, and it also participated in developing Star Fox and the first two Harry Potter games for Electronic Arts. In 2004, Argonaut Games went bankrupt, and many of its employees moved to Rocksteady Studios.
