It is reported that as part of the reorganization, the division will be split into two separate teams. One will continue to be responsible for the App Store, while the other will oversee the alternative distribution of applications on iOS, interacting with third-party stores like the recently launched Epic Games Store.
According to Bloomberg, the App Store team will be led by Carson Oliver, who is currently the Senior Director of App Store Business Management. The head of the alternative team will be Ann Thai, the Global Director for App Store and Apple Arcade products.
The current head of the App Store division, Matt Fischer, will retire. He wrote on LinkedIn that he will leave Apple in mid-October and until then, he will assist Oliver and Thai in settling into their new roles. After retiring, Fischer wants to take a break and spend time with family before starting to look for a new job. The top manager worked at Apple for 21 years.
