Black Myth: Wukong has become the best-selling game of 2024 on Steam, according to the analytics service VG Insights. Until recently, this title was held by Palworld.
Analysts estimate that to date, Steam users have purchased Black Myth: Wukong 20.1 million times. Sales of Palworld on the Valve platform are about 100,000 copies less.
The top five best-selling new releases of 2024 on Steam also include Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, which was released in early September.
Here is the current top 7 list of games released in 2024 by the number of copies sold on Steam, according to VG Insights*:
1. Black Myth: Wukong — 20.1 million copies;
2. Palworld — 20 million copies;
3. Helldivers 2 — 12 million copies;
4. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 — 3.6 million copies;
5. Manor Lords — 3.3 million copies;
6. Enshrouded — 3 million copies;
7. Content Warning — 2.9 million copies.
*VG Insights also included in their bestsellers list Banana (7 million players), The First Descendant (3.6 million players), and Once Human (2.6 million players). However, all of these are free-to-play projects, so in their case, it’s not about sales but the size of the attracted audience. For accuracy, we have removed these titles from the list.
