Remedy Entertainment has revealed the sales of Alan Wake 2. She announced that by the end of December 2023, the game had sold 1 million copies, and by the beginning of February 2024, it had sold 1.3 million copies.

According to estimates by Remedy Entertainment, sales of Alan Wake 2 in the first two months were 50% higher than sales of Control in the first four months. If we compare exclusively digital sales, then Alan Wake 2 surpassed Control three times (recall that Alan Wake 2 was released only in "digital", whereas Control is also available on discs).
To date, Control sales exceed 4 million copies, and the net income of the game is €100 million.
Earlier, Finnish analysts estimated the total budget of Alan Wake 2 at €70 million, of which €50 million is the cost of developing the game. Such a budget made Alan Wake 2 the most expensive project in the studio's portfolio, but it has almost fought back.
"We are pleased with the initial sales of Alan Wake 2," said Tero Virtala, CEO of Remedy Entertainment. "The game has already recouped a significant part of the development and marketing costs. We will continue to develop it to meet the needs of existing fans and attract new users. We expect Alan Wake 2 to continue to sell well."
Alan Wake 2 was released on October 27, 2023 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. She received a warm reception — on Metacritic she has 89 out of 100 points from critics. Alan Wake 2 also won three awards at The Game Awards 2023 — for Best Director, best narrative and best graphics.
The studio is currently working on two additions for Alan Wake 2 — Night Springs and The Lake House. The release of the first one is scheduled for the spring of 2024, when the second one will be released is still unknown.
Remedy Entertainment did not disclose how many months it took the first part of Alan Wake to reach the mark of 1 million copies sold. It is known that the game overcame the milestone of 2 million copies two years after its release, and three more years later its sales reached 3.2 million copies (or 4.5 million copies, if counted together with the DLC).
