New details have emerged on the criminal case of the creation and sale of video game cheats. This is the first such case in Russian practice.
Initially, the prosecutor’s office requested 1.5 years in a penal colony for Andrey Kirsanov, a resident of Yekaterinburg, who was accused of creating, using and distributing malware. However, in the end, the court sentenced him to 2.5 years in prison.
The cost of one cheat varied from 25 rubles to 2 thousand rubles, depending on the number of fights. The program itself helped with auto-targeting the most vulnerable parts of in-game equipment.
Recall that the investigation estimated the damage caused to the developers of World of Tanks at 670 million rubles. During the search, Kirsanov was also found to have over $60 thousand.
