UNIGINE has released a new version of its engine — 2.19.1. It has been four months since the last update to version 2.19.
Over 100 changes were made, here are the key ones:
- The ability to import from the USD data format has been added, allowing assets with textures, light sources, cameras, and more to be added to 3D projects (previously, only export to this format was available);
- Support for the OpenXR standard for Linux has been added, along with a hand tracking feature;
- DLSS and FSR upscalers can now be used for VR applications as well;
- Object animation previews are now available;
- With the update, hash maps now store data linearly, like regular lists or arrays (for example, like vectors). As a result, CPU load has decreased by an average of 8%, and performance has improved by 5.5%;
- Users can now register in the SDK Browser (meaning registration is now possible directly in the installer, not just through the website);
- The developers have expanded the free educational course on UNIGINE, with new content aimed at C++ programmers. According to the company, it includes both basic information and advanced topics — "including animation and physics, lighting, material creation, adding sounds and music, creating GUI, optimization basics, video recording and much more";
- The team also reminded that this engine version is the last to support DirectX 11 rendering. In the next release, it will be completely removed.
