The organizers of the Gamedev conference.World, including indie developer Rami Ismail, presented the Global Games Fund. He will support gaming startups "outside the Western world."
According to the founders of the Global Games Fund, many funds pay all their attention to Western developers. It is more difficult for teams from other countries to get funding. The Global Games Fund considers this situation unfair.
"Living in the West, knowing English, and creating games based on Western culture and mythology give developers advantages in finding investors and publishers. The Global Games Fund is aimed at developers outside the Western world. It allows them to communicate and make games in Arabic, English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian or simplified Chinese," the Global Games Fund website says.
The Foundation intends to cooperate with developers who are located in any region except the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the countries of Northwestern Europe.
The minimum conditions for investment are the availability of a prototype or a vertical slice of the game with the chosen artistic style, as well as the availability of a clear production plan with a prescribed budget and development deadlines.
It is stated that the Global Games Fund will invest from 5 to 50 thousand dollars. In addition to the money, the foundation will offer advice to developers. For example, he will share tips on game design, marketing and publishing.
The Global Games Fund is just getting ready to open. It will officially start working before the end of the second quarter of 2024, i.e., until June 30. Now he is looking for additional partners: publishers, platforms and investors.
