According to Vedomosti with reference to the XYZ School survey, most of the players from Russia use pirated versions of video games.

Only 31% of respondents to the study, which covered 1,500 people from all regions of Russia, spoke categorically against the use of illegal copies.

At the same time, XYZ School also found out that Russian gamers did not refuse to purchase licenses. Over the past year, 93% of respondents have bought games legally.

Most gamers prefer a combined approach, buying their favorite novelties in various ways, but refusing to pay for pass—through or bagged games,” said Emma Yusova, operating director of XYZ School.

But she still noted that against the background of sanctions, Russian gamers were 51% more likely to resort to using pirated copies of games. At the same time, 91% of respondents began to buy new items on physical media more often.
