Since the beginning of self-isolation, the spending of Russian gamers on games has increased by 22%. The turnover of IAP transactions also increased by 23%.

This data was shared by Yandex.Money.” Analysts evaluated the payments of Yandex users.Money”, “Yandex.Cash registers” and “Ya.Streamer” for January-April 2020. The picture is as follows:

  • the purchase of games accounts for 85% of payments (and 70% of the total amount spent by Russian gamers during the period);
  • for the purchase of in—game content – 15% of payments (and 30% of the total amount);
  • the average payment for the game is 361 rubles. This is 2.4 times less than the average IAP receipt, which is equal to 862 rubles;
  • Moscow residents spend the most on PC and console games (their average check is 759 rubles). Kazan (615 rubles) and Yekaterinburg (579 rubles) are also among the top three cities in terms of the volume of the average check;
  • Petersburgers spend the least money on desktop and console games (481 rubles).

Analysts note that in April, Russian players spent significantly more than in March:

  • the turnover of payments for games increased by 22%;
  • for in—game content – by 23%;
  • the number of IAP transactions increased by 17%;
  • the average check is 5%.

The number of donations has also soared. In April, viewers donated to streamers 40-90% more often in a week than in the last days before the self-isolation regime.

Recall that against the background of the coronavirus, Russians are showing increasing interest in esports and online games.
