Custom Modification Service mod.io raised $1 million in the seed round. The money will be used for its development.

The leader of the round was the venture fund Play Ventures.
Exactly how much he invested in the platform is unknown. He was interested in the direction mod.io after all, according to the founders of the foundation, user-generated content creates “huge opportunities” for the industry.
Task mod.io — become the largest open platform of custom mods on the market. Seed investments will be used for two purposes:
- expanding the number of supported sites;
- filling the library of games for which modifications are being developed. And the team mod.io interested in both indie and AAA.
mod.io provides cross-platform support for mods for PC, mobile, console and VR games. Now it supports working with C++, plugins for Unity and Unreal Engine engines. And also offers tools for creating and implementing mods in projects from 8 different stores.
For the last month with services mod.io almost 600 thousand users used it: they downloaded mods 6 million times. In total, 82 thousand modifications for 34 titles are placed on the platform. Among these games are MORDHAU, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, Descenders. Note that the publisher of the latter — No More Robots — announced an increase in players thanks to a partnership with mod.io .
