French Dontnod earned $19.4 million for the 2019 fiscal year. Its operating income grew by 18.6% year-on-year.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm
According to a Dontnod press release, this amount includes revenue and capitalized income.

Revenue for the year decreased by 2.7% to $15 million:

  • $12.8 million from here is development payments from the publisher (increased by 13% compared to fiscal year 2018);
  • $2.2 million is royalties, which have fallen significantly in annual terms (by 45.9%).

The latter is explained by the decline in sales of Vampyr, which was released last spring. Royalties of Life is Strange 2 are not included in the amount, as they relate to the 2020 fiscal year.

Capitalized income implies income from various types of studio property. Over the year, this figure increased 4.8 times to $4.4 million.

Dontnod is best known for the series Life is Strange. Right now the studio is developing Twin Mirror (in partnership with Bandai Namco) and Tell Me Why (with Xbox Game Studios). Previous Dontnod projects were published by such major publishers as Capcom, Square Enix and Focus Home.
