The American studio with Russian roots Donut Lab has raised $ 1.6 million for the game Kids vs Zombies. Zombie celebrities like Kojima and Trump will appear in the project, and the authors initially saw actor Danny Trejo as one of their characters in the game.

The lead investor of the round was the French Level Up fund. Previously, Wargaming, Starta Ventures and Sergey Kovalenko, co-founder of Braavo Capital, invested in the company. The money of the round will go to the development and launch of the first Donut Lab project.

It will be Kids vs Zombies — an online shooter with elements of PvE and PvP, in which children fight zombies in a post-apocalyptic world. According to the studio, they focus on bright characters, an abundance of content and diverse gameplay.

The main character of the game was supposed to be Danny Trejo. Donut Labs agreed with the actor and used his image in early creatives. However, after testing, the company came to the conclusion that the presence of a celebrity could negatively affect the prospects of their project.

The Kids vs Zombies soft launch is scheduled for autumn, and Russia will be among the first countries. The global launch of the game will take place at the end of the year.

Donut Lab was founded by Andrey Gordeev, who worked as a commercial illustrator and previously released the indie project Green Riding Hood, together with Vitaly Urban and Tim Reiter, who had previously launched a mobile ecosystem for parents and pregnant Hello Baby.

The latter helped attract investors, while Gordeev was focused on the creative part of the project. Now a team of 20 people is working on the game.
