Sony Pictures Entertainment became the owner of GSN Games. She received this gaming asset by buying out the Game Show Network (GSN).

GSN Casino
The developer of popular slots is a division of GSN.

The latter is a TV channel previously owned by Sony by 58%. According to Variety, the film company bought the remaining share (42%) from the media conglomerate AT&T. He received $500 million (including dividends) as part of the deal.

So Sony Pictures Entertainment became the sole owner of the channel and its gaming cell. Interestingly, Sony and AT&T wanted to sell GSN Games for $600-700 million back in January. But even then it was assumed that one of the outcomes would be Sony’s purchase of a game studio along with a TV channel.

Apparently, Sony and AT&T’s plans for GSN Games have really changed. Although the deal between the companies is more related to the telecommunications sector, a game studio with an income of $8 million per month (according to DataMagic) is also a profitable acquisition.

This is also evidenced by the comment of Mike Hopkins, the head of Sony Pictures Television:

We are very pleased to have the Game Show Network in its entirety in the Sony Pictures Entertainment portfolio. This deal will allow us to work more closely with the company's talented team to create the best game shows and distribute new TV IP throughout the country. We also plan to develop the fast-growing GSN Games business.

GSN Games was previously called WorldWinner. 12 years ago, it was bought and renamed Liberty Media, the ex-owner of a controlling stake in GSN. As a result of several transactions, GSN’s share, along with GSN Games, fell to AT&T.

To date, the studio has released games such as Solitaire TriPeaks, Bingo Bash, GSN Casino. TriPeaks alone had an income of $3.7 million, and downloads approached 300 thousand.

Let’s add that GSN Games has 10 offices, and one of them is in Kiev.
