Startup Resolution Games received $6 million in investments. According to the resource version Pocketgamer.biz this is the largest amount ever received by a studio engaged in the development of games for VR devices.
The company received funds during Round A. This is how investments are designated at the initial stages of project development. They allow a startup to start production. The money will be used to expand the development team.
The investment round was led by the Google Ventures venture capital fund. Creandum, Bonnier Growth Media and Partech Ventures also invested.
Joe Kraus, General Partner of Google Ventures, explained why the foundation decided to sponsor Resolution Games: “The pace of VR development over the next five years will be rapid, and mobile virtual reality will develop the fastest, because anyone who has a smartphone in their pocket already actually has access to it.”
Recall that Resolution Games was created in January 2015 by Tommy Palm, the author of the Candy Crush Saga version for mobile devices. He designated the studio’s specialization as “entertainment for virtual reality”.
