In the Russian Nintendo eShop, prices have risen sharply. Now the standard versions of some flagship games will cost users 6299 rubles. For example, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (their old price is 5249 rubles).
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
But those games that used to cost 4499 rubles, from today they are sold for 5399 rubles.
Among them is Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Monster Hunter: Rise, Super Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
It is worth noting that the prices for pre-orders have not changed yet. Mario Golf: Super Rush, which is expected to be released in June 2021, still costs 4499 rubles. The same situation is with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD and the two-part collection Famicom Detective Club.
Nintendo has not commented on the price tag increase.
Recall that last fall, games also rose in price for the Russian PS Store (the basic versions of individual games rose to six thousand rubles). Sony explained its decision by “current market conditions.” It is likely that it was due to the growth of the euro against the ruble.
Games were becoming more expensive not only in the console segment. At the end of October, the cost of games in the App Store for Russian users also increased. The rise in price was explained, among other things, by the exchange rate.
