South Korean mobile publisher Netmarble has reported for the final quarter of 2018. Its indicators are falling compared to both the previous quarter and the previous year.

  • The publisher’s revenue was $432 million. This is 7.4% lower than in the 3rd quarter, and 20.9% lower in annual terms.
  • Operating profit for the same time fell to $33.7 million. The drop was 43.5% compared to the previous quarter and 59% in annual terms.
  • The largest markets for Netmarble in the fourth quarter were North America (33% of revenue) and South Korea (32%). Japan and Europe accounted for 12% and 10% of revenue, respectively.
  • Lineage 2: Revolution, MARVEL: Contest of Champions, Cookie Jam, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery and Seven Knights brought the largest revenue for the quarter.

Annual result

  • Netmarble’s revenue totaled $1.7 billion in four quarters, according to Variety. In 2017, the publisher earned $2.1 billion.
  • Operating profit for the same period amounted to $241 million. This is almost half as much as in 2017.

Plans

  • The company had to postpone the release dates of several mobile games from 2018 to 2019. So, for the first quarter of the year, pre-registration of players in Seven Knights 2 and The King of Fighters All Star is planned, as well as the launch of A3: Still Alive.
  • Due to the above-mentioned releases, Netmarble expects growth in the second quarter of 2019. By the way, the publisher built exactly the same hopes for the second quarter in 2018, when the dynamics of indicators for the first quarter turned out to be negative.

Recall that Netmarble managed to create a consortium of several companies to buy a controlling stake in Nexon. The Chinese media giant Tencent has joined the Netmarble alliance.
