The investment fund of the Chinese corporation NetEase will invest $2.5 million in an indie studio from Finland, Reforged Studios. The company announced this in a press release.
The studio uses the money to expand the team and release the first project. The game has no name yet, it is only known that it is a “fantasy buttler”. The release is expected in 2016.
The Chinese from NetEase are going to increase their presence in the Western market with the help of a Finnish company. In an interview with [a] list daily, the management of the corporation noted that they believe in the potential of the studio. According to him, the investment should help the indie team grow into a global company.
A Chinese corporation invested in the studio because of a talented team. Reforged Studios was founded by game dev veterans who previously worked for the largest players in the industry, such as EA, Ubisoft, Blizzard Entertainment and LucasArts. In total, the team has 100 years of experience in game development.
