Nexon has reported on the third quarter of fiscal year 2020, which was a record for it. Mobile revenue of the South Korean publisher grew by 140%, and the former head of TikTok joined the company’s board of directors.Key results for the third quarter

Nexon’s total revenue was $753 million (¥79.4 billion) and grew by 52% year-on-year.

  • 58% of revenue came from PC — $439 million (¥46.3 billion), and revenue in mobile amounted to $313 million (¥33 billion) and increased by 140%.
  • Operating profit for the third quarter was $261 million (¥27.6 billion), but net profit fell by 59% year-on-year to $154 million (¥16.3 billion).
  • 64% of the revenue was generated by users from South Korea.

Cooperation with Tencent allowed Nexon to launch Mobile Dungeon & Fighter in China, which also contributed to an increase in revenue in the region.

Nexon expects total revenue of $575 million to $620 million in the fiscal fourth quarter, and operating profit of $116 million to $151 million.

Kevin Mayer, who previously headed TikTok, also joined the publisher’s board of directors. Previously, he worked at Disney for 25 years, where, among other things, he oversaw streaming services and was responsible for major deals to buy Pixar, Marvel and LucasFilm.
