In a month and a half since the release, users have bought 100 thousand copies of Her Story from Sam Barlow, the screenwriter of Silent Hill. The author of the detective game told about this on his Twitter.
The project appeared on Steam and the App Store on June 24. Since that moment, it has been purchased 100 thousand times. Of these, Steam accounted for 56 thousand copies, that is, almost half of the downloads were provided by the App Store.
Considering the cost of Her Story in the App Store – $4.99, it’s easy to calculate how much you managed to earn on the sale of the mobile version of the game. This (minus 30% commission) is approximately $153 thousand.
Against the background of the news about 20 million downloads of the new Angry Birds project, the numbers are not striking. But there are two things to consider here: the game is paid and with non-standard mechanics.
Recall that the project tells the story of a woman whose husband was killed in 1994. The user gets access to video recordings of interrogations of the main character to find out who made her a widow. Interaction with the game is limited to the search bar: by keywords, the player searches for videos of interrogations of a woman.
