Swedish G5 Games, founded by immigrants from the Russian Federation, reported for the 3rd quarter of 2019. Its total revenue for the quarter was $31 million — 12% less in annual terms.

In July — September, G5 Games faced a drop in metrics and a financial loss. Although the latter has decreased compared to the same quarter last year, writes Pocket Gamer.

By metrics

  • MAU reached 6.2 million people in the third quarter. This is 23% less in annual terms;
  • The DAU for the reporting period amounted to 1.6 million players. Their number is 18% lower compared to the third quarter of 2018;
  • G5 also observes the outflow of paying audience. In the past quarter, the average number of unique paying users per month reached 223 thousand people. This figure is 22% lower in annual terms.

For money

  • The average monthly revenue per paying user reached $45.80. The growth compared to the third quarter of 2018 was 4%;
  • revenue for the quarter, as reported above, reached $31 million;
  • at the same time, G5 Games is still in the red: its loss (before taxes) is $ 250 thousand. But last year it was $2.6 million, so the dynamics of the G5 is positive.

According to the CEO of G5 Games Vlad Suglobov, two factors contributed to the reduction of the loss. The first is the reduction of staff turnover. The second is growing investments in development and marketing.

Throughout the third quarter, we worked to boost our old game projects and at the same time gave our new game, Jewels of Rome, a chance to consolidate its success. To do this, we spent more money on marketing during the quarter to drive revenue growth in the last three months of the year.
