The independent investment firm Alven has invested in the company.
According to CrunchBase, this is the only Madbox investor in the “A” series.
Madbox specializes in mobile arcades. Now, with the investment received, the startup wants to try itself in a new genre. For example, in hyper-casual, including the idle segment. In addition, the developer plans to open a second office in Barcelona.
Madbox has been around since 2018. It was formed by the merger of two small game studios. His first game was the Dash Valley arcade. He then released several more casual titles, including tickMan Hook and Sausage Flip. Some of them got into the American top 10 mobile games. In total, all the games from the Madbox portfolio generated 100 million downloads.
In an interview with TechCrunch, Madbox CEO Jean-Nicolas Vernin said that they do not plan to release dozens of games a year and are generally carefully building a growth strategy. Madbox monitors the economical use of resources both in development (for example, often using assets from previous games), and in UA and marketing. And, in general, the startup seeks to automate all processes, according to Verni.
Let’s add that now Madbox employs from 30 to 40 developers.
