The other day, the official launch of the Skillz SDK for iOS finally took place, which allows you to embed competitions for real money into games.
Recall that everything works like this: the developer integrates Skillz into his project as a multiplayer component. Then the players who downloaded the app activate their own Skillz account, common to all games that support it. Then they can compete in projects with other players for real money, having previously entered their credit card details. The minimum entry threshold for a paid session is $0.25. In case of winning, the user receives the bets of all participants of the tournament. Skillz itself takes 10% of all entrance fees.
Skillz, first of all, is focused on those projects where victory is not determined randomly, but depends on the player’s abilities. For this reason, the service, if we talk about the USA, is allowed in 37 of the 50 states. In the remaining 13, any games for money are prohibited.
Today, the platform boasts 1.5 million user accounts.
Yes, those companies that connected Skillz at the beta testing stage of the service earned more than $0.20 as additional revenue from each active player per day.
A number of Glu Mobile projects support Skillz. In the middle of last year, Atlas Venture and Nextview Ventures invested $4 million in the service.
