The idea of the need to increase the number of free Internet access points was prompted by the results of a study conducted by companies presented the day before Mail.Ru Group and Nielsen.
The overall result of the research was the image of a typical Russian user of mobile devices.
As it turned out, these are mostly men (53%) aged 19-30 years, who become active in the network in the late evening (after 22.00) and on weekends. A typical user needs mobile Internet primarily for communication, receiving news and checking mail.
Maxim Dolgopolov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ZEFS:
” No matter what the typical mobile Internet users are, the main trend is a constant increase in the number of this audience. Consequently, the IT sector is becoming more and more profitable for investment.
In order to further develop the mobile Internet, it is necessary to make it as accessible as possible by expanding the network of Wi-Fi access points. It’s time for St. Petersburg to catch up with Moscow by creating access points in the metro and park areas (for example, in parks on Elagin and Krestovsky Islands, in Moscow and Primorsky Victory Parks). In addition, given the specifics of the city and its status as the cultural capital of Russia, free Wi-Fi should be available in museums, near city monuments, theaters and concert halls.”
