Firaxis studio together with 2K announced the space turn-based strategy Sid Meier’s Starships, created under the influence of Civilization: Beyond Earth.
The player will control a flotilla of spaceships and travel around the galaxy, completing missions and helping to build an interplanetary federation. He will be able to improve and modify his starships.
Unique maps will be created for each mission in the title, where “dynamically generated opponents” will be waiting for the user.
The creator of the game Sid Meier (Sid Meier) believes that it is a kind of continuation of Civilization: Beyond Earth.
“When I was creating Starships, I wanted to explore the next chapter in the history of Civilization: Beyond Earth,” Meyer shared. “What happens after we colonize our new home and finally build spaceships that will send us to the stars? What happened to our long-lost brothers and sisters from planet Earth?”.
2K has promised that Beyond Earth and Starships will be somehow connected to each other for those users who purchase both games. Details are not disclosed. The developers have so far reported only that the integration of one title into another “will complement and expand the gaming experiences of both projects.”
The title will be released on PC, Mac and iPad this year. The exact date, as well as the price, has not yet been named.
