Marmalade, the winner of many awards in the field of cross–platform development, announced today the launch of a new offer, thanks to which indie game and application developers can apply for a free Marmalade SDK license.

From today, worthy developers can compete for the offer. To do this, you need to register on madewithmarmalade.com/blackberry and download the free trial version of the Marmalade SDK. The first 300 developers who upload their BlackBerry 10 application project to the BlackBerry® World™ store can also apply for a BlackBerry® 10 Dev Alpha smartphone to test their application. As soon as the final version of the application is approved for download on BlackBerry World, a free license for 12 months will be issued.

As the prospect of smartphone operating systems grows and developers want to support the powerful BlackBerry® 10 platform, Marmalade cross-platform tools are becoming extremely valuable among developers who want to reach a wider audience of consumers and maximize the return on investment invested in a game or application.

This offer, being a continuation of the already existing successful relationship between Marmalade and BlackBerry, will facilitate the release process for enterprising developers in the successful BlackBerry World store. BlackBerry World has already more than 100,000 applications for BlackBerry 10 smartphones. And using Marmalade with orientation to BlackBerry 10 smartphones, developers will be able to create high-quality games and applications, not limited to just one ecosystem in the future.

Marmalade SDK provides developers with a powerful cross-platform tool that makes it possible to implement on multiple platforms, without changing the program code. Applications and games created with Marmalade are written in C/C++ or Lua, can be developed directly for BlackBerry 10 smartphones, as well as for a number of other mobile and desktop operating systems and certain types of Smart TV platforms.

Harvey Elliott, CEO of Marmalade, says: “We were pleasantly surprised by the success we achieved with BlackBerry 10, and the reaction of our society was simply amazing. Marmalade developers have already created some great games for BlackBerry 10 using a powerful cross-platform SDK, and this offer will help more developers find even more customers.”

“BlackBerry’s positioning as a world-class platform for games and applications is very attractive to developers at all levels,” says Alec Sanders, Vice President of the Department of Ecosystems and Developer Communications at BlackBerry. “With such an offer for indie developers, we are opening the doors to new talents, so that they bring their unique experience to the hungry for new BlackBerry 10 applications of users around the world.”
