During the Winter Nights 2015 conference, Natalia Efimtseva, a Google speaker, spoke about the features of porting games to Android TV.
Android TV already includes the Android database. Therefore, porting projects to the platform requires a minimum of effort.
Natalia named Running Shadow from Game Insight as an example of a game adapted for Android TV. This is one of the first games that appeared on the console.
The game is written in Unity. When it was ported to Android TV, the changes did not affect graphics and technology, the project did not require significant rework. The game dynamics changed. The project monetization scenario has been redesigned. For obvious reasons, the interface has changed: the game is controlled by a touch from the phone, and on TV these functions are taken over by the joystick and remote control.
The team spent about two weeks on the port of the game. On average, Natalia noted, this process takes from one to four weeks. If the game is adapted for FB, then it will be easier to transfer the project to TV.
