Unity became the owner of Pixyz Software. The main specialization of the French company is tools for optimizing and integrating 3D objects into engines. With this deal, Unity also intends to expand opportunities for gaming and industrial companies.Unity announced the deal, the amount of which was not disclosed, in its official blog.

As part of the takeover, the company will receive all Pixyz products — including Pixyz Plugin, Pixyz Studio and Pixyz Scenario Processor.

Pixyz Softawre is a set of software that allows you to prepare 3D models for integration into the engine and work with them in real time. The products of the French company are used not only by game developers, but also by manufacturers of household appliances and cars. Among its partners are NVIDIA, Microsoft, Audi, Huawei and others.

Despite the deal and integration into the Unity ecosystem, Pixyz will continue to charge subscriptions for the use of its products. There are also no plans to change the pricing policy. Now an individual annual subscription to Pixyz Studio costs $2,100, and for Pixyz Plugin — $1,150.

Unity and Pixyz began collaborating in 2018 to make it easier for developers to work with CAD data, three-dimensional grids and arrays of points. In the future, the creators of the engine plan to use Pyxiz technologies to meet the individual needs of both gaming and industrial customers.

Last year, Unity also acquired the Artomatix AI platform and the RestAR editor, which allows you to create 3D models by scanning real objects from mobile devices. The company intends to continue to make spot transactions in order to scale its business.
