Finnish studio Boom Corp has attracted $1.8 million from investors. She is going to spend the money on the development of mobile social games. The company itself is still known for one tile Boom Slingers — the ideological heir of Worms and Angry Birds.
The VGames venture fund headed the seed round of financing.
“It is important for us to invest in studios that strive to create great titles for a wide audience. The Boom Slingers game has achieved high organic engagement since the first days, and this is a significant factor,” commented the managing partner of the fund Eitan Reisel on the deal.
Boom Corp was founded last March by former Angry Birds and Badland developers. In December, they released a turn-based PvP game Boom Slingers, which they described for themselves as a game where “Worms meet Angry Birds”.
Now the audience of Boom Slingers has 1.5 million players. But the total earnings of the project for the time since the release does not exceed $ 60 thousand.
The attracted investments will be used for the development of the title and the development of new mobile games. The company plans to pay special attention to social functions.
“Our most cherished memories of games remain with us outside of virtual reality. For example, when we build relationships with other people,” said Boom Corp CEO Minna Eloranta. “We are going to transfer these experiences to the most accessible gaming platform — mobile.”
