Last week, Tencent invested in another gaming company. She acquired a minority stake in the Polish THE PARASIGHT. It is not known how much the purchase cost.
According to the terms of the agreement, THE PARASIGHT will retain creative independence and ownership over all its IP. The studio will spend the money received on further development.
“The fact that such an experienced company as Tencent invested in our vision, in BLACKTAIL and other projects shows incredible faith in our team. We intend to justify this trust,” said Bartosz Kapron, CEO of THE PARASIGHT.
THE PARASIGHT was founded in 2019 in Krakow, Poland. Among its employees there are people from another Polish studio — Bloober Team. They participated in the development of games such as Layers of Fear, Observer, Blair Witch and The Medium.
Now THE PARASIGHT is working on an action adventure about a young Baba Yaga BLACKTAIL. The game will be released on PC, but it is not yet known when exactly this will happen. According to the studio, there are “only a few months left” before the release.
Recall that Tencent is one of the most active gaming companies in the M&A market. According to the ITJuzi portal, in 2021, the Chinese giant concluded 268 deals. Nevertheless, analysts fear that due to tighter control over video games in China, Tencent may start investing less.
