Savage Game Studios has successfully closed the seed round of investments, raising $ 4.4 million for the development of a cooperative shooter. The studio is headed by Michail Katkoff, a veteran of the mobile industry and creator of the blog Deconstructor of Fun.The investors were well-known venture funds Makers Fund and Play Ventures.

Mobile Dev Memo, former Unity Executive Vice President Jussi Laakkonen and others also participated in the round.

The funds raised will be spent on the development of the first Savage Game Studios game. It will be a mobile looter shooter with PvE elements. The developers plan to launch the game in selected markets in 2021.

According to Sensor Tower, the mobile shooter market is estimated at $1.5 billion and is growing by 30% per year. Given the high competition in the genre, Savage Game hopes to offer players an innovative experience.

“All shooters, starting with the battle royale boom in 2018, are focused on fast and competitive gameplay. We see this as an opportunity for the emergence of games that allow you to play with each other in cooperative sessions without the pressure inherent in PvP titles,” says Mikhail Katkoff, CEO of the company, about the project.

Savage Game Studios was founded last year. It consists of former employees of Rovio, Wargaming, Rockstar and Next Games. The company uses part of the raised money to expand its staff in its offices in Berlin and Helsinki. Katkoff hopes that the team will double this year.
