The Vietnamese studio Sky Mavis, which developed the NFT game Axie Infinity, conducted a Series B financing round. The company received $ 150 million in investments from investors, and its market capitalization was estimated at $ 3 billion.
This was reported by the publication The Information with reference to people who are familiar with the details of the transaction. According to him, the Andreessen Horowitz fund was the leading investor.
Sky Mavis has not yet commented on the publication’s information.
If The Information’s message turns out to be correct, the current funding round will be the largest for Sky Mavis. According to the Crunchbase portal, the developer currently has two closed rounds with a total amount of $9 million.
All this is happening against the background of the popularity of Axie Infinity, which as of mid-September was considered the highest-grossing NFT game in the world. Recall that in it users can breed, collect and sell animals “aksi”. In September, the volume of sales within the title reached $2.05 billion. Yesterday, the cost of one AXS token, which is needed for trading operations in the game, updated the historical maximum, amounting to $ 155 (however, now the price has dropped to $141.6). The game itself was released in 2018.
