Mobile publisher Scopely is expanding its presence in Spain. Among the publisher’s new assets is developer Genjoy, who recently released the match—3 puzzle Tuscany Villa.
According to Scopely, the Seville studio Genjoy has already become the third Spanish division of the company. Its staff of 150 people has completely passed under the leadership of a mobile publisher.
The companies plan to work on the development of the Tuscany Villa mobile title, which was released in April 2020. In this project, players solve puzzles to put an old mansion in order and turn it into a hotel.
The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.
Recall: a month ago, Scopely began negotiating the ninth round of financing in order to raise $200 million. Then the publisher did not say what he plans to use the collected funds for. However, previously, the company often spent investments on the purchase of game studios.
One of the latest acquisitions of Scopely was the Los Angeles studio PierPlay — the author of the popular puzzle Scrabble Go. The transaction took place in April. And three months before it, the publisher bought the FoxNext gaming company from Disney.
