Consisting of veterans of the gaming industry, Mountaintop studio has attracted $ 5.5 million in investments to develop its first project. It is headed by the co-founder of Oculus, and the company itself works completely remotely.Mountaintop managed to raise funds from an unnamed group of investors, friends and family members of the developers.

The money will be spent on expanding the team, which now has 20 people, and developing their first game. It will be a PvP shooter, about the setting and gameplay features of which nothing is known yet.

“As players, we love this niche of games ourselves, and our first title is inspired by some of our most beloved projects in the genre, says Mountaintop CEO Nate Mitchell.

Mountaintop was founded in June last year. In addition to Mitchell, the backbone of the company included:

  • Mark Terrano, former Creative Director of Oculus;Matt Hansen, former Chief Operating Officer of Double Fine;
  • artist Richard Lyons (Richard Lyons), previously worked in Naughty Dog and Vigil Games.
  • Mountaintop also employs people from Epic, Respawn, Blizzard, Turtle Rock, Ubisoft, Infinity Ward and other large companies.

All of them participate in the development from home. According to Mitchell, remote work is the future of the gaming industry.
