The Indian studio Bombay Play has attracted $1 million in seed investments. The developers plan to spend this money on creating “world-class social HTML5 games”.
According to VentureBeat, the leader of the last round was Lumikai, a recently launched venture fund specializing in investments in Indian gaming startups. Bombay Play also received funding from Playco and Leo Capital.
According to Bombay Play co-founder Oliver Jones, the money raised will be used to create new and support games already released by the studio. The developers intend to pay special attention to cross-platform social HTML5 projects based on the “lingua franca” of the network.
Part of the collected funds will also be used to promote the studio’s games abroad. The company is not going to be limited to the Indian market and plans to bring its developments to the world stage.
Note that this is not the first investment for Bombay Play. Six months ago, it already attracted about $ 1.5 million, but then the developers hoped to scale the studio itself with their help.
Previously, Bombay Play was mainly engaged in mobile games. Among her hits is the card MMO title Card Party, which was downloaded 10 million times in its premiere year. Now Indian developers are working on the Lockdown Brawl card butler (the beta version is already available on the Android platform).
What will be the first HTML5 project – Bombay Play did not tell.
