1939 Games, known as the creator of the collectible card game KARDS, is porting its project to mobile devices. The investors of the developers were companies from South Korea and Northern Europe.
KARDS is a digital KKI with elements of strategy in the setting of the Second World War, where the player holds the front line through battles in card battles. The project is shareware – you can buy card sets and customization elements for real and in—game currency. The PC version of KARDS was launched in April 2020 on Steam.
According to the CEO of the indie studio, Ivar Kristjansson, KARDS will be available on Android and iOS in 2022.
Companies such as Korea Investment Partners, Woori Technology Invest, Seoul Investment Partners, Sisu Game Ventures and Crowberry Capital helped to invest in the development of the mobile version.
“Our investors are aware of the full potential of KARDS in the mobile games market, which, according to Newzoo forecasts, will amount to $116 billion by 2024. The mobile version of KARDS is the most frequent request from our players and we are glad that we can start developing in the coming months,” Ivar commented.
1939 Games is an independent studio founded in Reykjavik in 2015 by people from CCP Games. KARDS is the only developer project so far.
