French publisher Focus Home Interactive has announced a new takeover. He was joined by Dotemu, which was one of the developers and publishers of Streets of Rage 4. The size of the deal is €53.5 million.
Focus Home bought 77.5% of Dotemu shares for €38.5 million: 70% from Oryx Finance and 7.5% from Cyrille Imbert, CEO of Dotemu. The remaining 22.5% of the shares are still owned by Imber. He will also retain his position and join the executive committee of Focus Home.
The company will transfer another €15 million to Dotemu if it reaches the specified financial indicators by the end of 2022.
Under the leadership of the French publisher Dotemu will be able to count on help in promoting and creating their games. It will continue to publish “unique games with strong commercial potential made under iconic video game and pop culture licenses.” In addition, Dotemu will develop “even more ambitious projects”, including sequels and remakes of 3D games of the early 2000s.
Dotemu is a French publisher and developer specializing in retro games. In addition to Streets of Rage 4, she has such tiles as Windjammers, Wonder Boy on her account: The Dragon’s Trap and Ys Origin. She is currently working on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, Metal Slug Tactics and several as yet unannounced projects for Focus Home.
Recall that at the end of April, Focus Home bought Streum On Studio, and a little later it attracted €70 million for the purchase of new studios. In the last financial year, the publisher earned €171 million.
